What it is
Belotero is a hyaluronic acid filler made with a cohesive polydensified matrix, which allows it to integrate into the surrounding tissue rather than sitting as a distinct mass. That is why it suits fine lines and delicate areas as well as contour work. We use it to soften nasolabial folds and marionette lines, refine the lip border and address the delicate area around the eyes, aiming for a result that moves as your face moves.
Who it is for
Suitable if you want lines softened or contour restored with a subtle result. Not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if there is active infection in the area. Tell us if you have a history of cold sores, as we may need to take preventive steps beforehand.
What to expect
For seven to ten days beforehand avoid aspirin and anti inflammatories such as ibuprofen, along with fish oil, ginkgo biloba, St John's wort and high dose vitamin E, all of which increase bruising. Skip alcohol for twenty four hours and eat something before you come. Afterwards some bruising is normal and settles within a week, and you may feel the product for a fortnight as it settles. Avoid facial massage for two weeks, heat and steam for five days, and strenuous exercise for three days.
Results
The effect is visible immediately and refines over about two weeks as any swelling settles and the product integrates.
